Install Guide

No app store needed. Ready in 30 seconds.

SANGYU runs right in your browser at app.sangyutranslate.com. Follow the three steps below to add it to your desktop or home screen so it opens like a standalone app.

Windows PC

Chrome or Edge

Supports microphone capture for in-person classes and clean browser-tab audio for online lectures.

  1. 1Open app.sangyutranslate.com in Chrome or Edge
  2. 2Click the "Install" icon on the right side of the address bar
  3. 3Confirm, and SANGYU will appear on your desktop and Start menu

Mac

Chrome or Edge

Safari or Chrome works great for in-person lectures; use Chrome or Edge to capture browser-tab audio for online classes.

  1. 1Open app.sangyutranslate.com in Chrome (or Safari)
  2. 2In Chrome, click "Install" in the address bar; in Safari, click "Share → Add to Dock"
  3. 3Launch SANGYU anytime directly from your Dock

iPad

Use Safari

Ideal on your desk in lecture halls; supports landscape, portrait, and Split View alongside your lecture slides.

  1. 1Open app.sangyutranslate.com in Safari
  2. 2Tap the "Share" button (square with upward arrow) near the address bar
  3. 3Scroll down, choose "Add to Home Screen", then tap "Add"

Note: While recording on iPad, keep SANGYU visible on screen (or in Split View). Locking the screen or switching apps may pause microphone access.

iPhone & Android

Safari / Chrome

Great for sitting in the front row during class and reviewing Study Notes or replaying audio on the go.

iPhone (Safari): Open app.sangyutranslate.com → tap the bottom "Share" button → select "Add to Home Screen".
Android (Chrome): Open app.sangyutranslate.com → tap the top-right "⋮" menu → select "Install app" or "Add to Home screen".

Note: Phones support microphone capture for in-person lectures and after-class review (capturing internal system audio from other phone apps is not supported). Keep the screen awake while recording.

Three quick things before your first class

1. Allow microphone access

The first time you start a session, your browser will ask for microphone permission—click "Allow".

2. Sit closer to the lecturer

For in-person classes, sit in the front rows and place your phone or laptop flat on the desk with the microphone unobstructed.

3. Run a 10-second test

Say a quick sentence before class starts—once you see captions appear, you are ready to go.
